DIGITAL AUDIO WORKSTATION
For this module we use Pro Tools, a daw used by professional audio engineers. Pro Tools is considered an industry standard. I've used fl studio for more than two years and transitioning from one to the other was not easy. After a couple of lessons using Pro Tools I understand why it is considered one of the best. It is easy to edit audio and good for recording. We were taught the basics of Pro Tools, how to record onto the daw, how to write and edit midi and how to use equalisation, compression and other effects for mastering and mixing.
OUTCOME 1
For outcome1 the candidate has to demonstrate knowledge of basic use of midi data, setup external connections for recording, route channels, configure channel levels and gain.
OUTCOME 2
Outcome2 focuses on how to record and playback midi and audio and how to save and choose a location for a project file.
OUTCOME 3-4
For outcome 3 and 4 a track of at least 3 minutes was required, the candidate had to provide evidence of use of eq, compression, panning, balancing levels and then finally bouncing the track as a stereo file to then master it in an other pro tools project, the master chain required evidence of eq, compression and limiting.
